Is creating your own DIY Wreath Out of Your Comfort Zone? You are not alone!
Can you see yourself? You are sitting at the table with your "pieces" in front of you ready to be transformed into a wreath of greatness. You stare down at your "pieces" and draw a blank and ask yourself, how am I going to arrange these pieces and make it look good enough to hang in my house?
Has that happened to you? Geez with expectations like that no wonder you get nervous and apprehensive! And honestly that is EXACTLY how I felt when I constructed this wreath for my home and this website to share with you today!
Today I'm going to share with what I learned that helped me go out of my comfort zone and make this DIY Wreath!
When I saw the Burlap and Blooms Simply Created Wreath Kit (133333 on page 21 of the Celebrate the Everyday Catalog), I purchased it because I had never made a DIY Wreath, and at the time thought with Spring around the corner it might be a good thing to try something new! After a good while I finally came up with a design that I was happy with. I hope sharing what I learned during this Creative Discovery will help you get out of your Crafting Comfort Zone!
- It was FUN! Stampin' Up! made this easy by having the materials in the kit ready to assemble! Trying something new really excited me and once I got in the groove figuring out the kit it was really fun to do.
- The inside of the packing has instructions….duh….I didn't know that and I would have saved a bunch of time figuring out how to assemble the flowers, but the upside is I did figure it out and I felt really smart!
- Don't be afraid to experiment with different layouts BEFORE you glue them down.
- It's ok to add new elements not included in the kit. I added two flowers created with the Spiral Flower Die Cut (129379) and added a craft metal butterfly too!
- The more you go through the process your creativity will kick into high gear so trust it and know YOU CAN DO THIS!
Here are some close up pictures of the wreath so you can see the different elements:
Craft Metal Butterfly with Brushed Gold Card Stock & Twine for antennas!
The larger flowers are die cut and easy to assemble. Using a Glue Gun will get best results.
I ended up placing another Spiral Flower at the top once I hung the wreath. So my tip for you is that before you place your "pieces" on your wreath, hang it on a door so you can see where "center" is and that will give you a better eye on placement.
If you were on the fence on creating your own DIY Wreath I encourage you to try it! It's really fun!
