The Clay Impression technique is fun and easy way to use our simply pressed clay.  You may have noticed I haven't blogged since Labor Day Weekend.   Due to some family issues I wasn't able to get on-line to blog, but I'm back now and  I created this card and just had to share it with you,  Below you will learn how to do a clay impression technique using rubber stamps and you will have full instructions and supply list on how to create the handmade card below.

How to do a Clay Impression technique using rubber stamps

Don't you love how unique the image is?!!  Personally trying new things like using the Simply Pressed Clay to create a Clay Impression with the Mixed Bunch (wood-128442 clear-125537) stamp set is a great way to add a new technique to your crafting toolbox.

What is perfect about this project is that it is super easy to create this vintage handmade card using the clay impression technique.

How to do a Clay Impression Technique (using rubber stamps) :

  • Using Stampin' Up!'s Simply Pressed Clay or comparable product, color clay with reinker (use rubber gloves)
  • Roll clay flat with hands (or brayer).
  • Take the rubber stamp image you wish to create the impression with and push down to create image but do not lift the rubber stamp off the clay.
  • Put in freezer* for 2-4 hours to set or let it set overnight.
  • Remove from freezer (or overnight) and lift up the rubber stamp.
  • The Clay Impression will be left in the clay and you will be set to continue on with your project.
  • Clean stamp with Stampin' Mist to help condition the stamp if it was left in the freezer.

Card Instructions:

  1. Take the Simply Pressed clay and color with the calypso coral reinker until you get desired results (use gloves and protect your work area)
  2. After clay is desired color mix in some dazzling diamonds glitter and gently mix in with hands.  (don't over mix just till it's blended)
  3. Next follow directions above for Clay Impression Technique*.
  4.   While the clay is setting cut your Basic Gray card stock to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
  5. Cut your Basic Black card stock 5 1/4 x 4.
  6. Place your Basic Black card stock into the beautifully baroque impressions folder and run it through the Big Shot.
  7. Next take your sponge dauber and the Silver Metallic Encore Pad and gently dab some ink onto the dauber and then run it over the embossed basic black card stock until you get the look you desire.   Then adhere to the basic gray card stock with snail adhesive.
  8. Next punch out a black scallop from scrap basic black card stock using the 7/8" Scallop Circle (129404), then take the sponge dauber and color the sides of the scallop circle.
  9. Next stamp Thank You or I'm Here For You from the Blooming with Kindness Stamp Set (wood – 131961 clear – 126422) with the Metallic Encore Silver Ink and set it aside to dry.
  10. Next get one Tea Lace Paper Doilies (129399) and one 11/16"  Vintage Brad (117273) of your choice  and lay aside.
  11. Go to freezer and retrieve your clay impression and stamp.  Remove the stamp from the clay.   This should come off super easy.
  12. Take the clay impression and use Craft Scissors 108360 to cut around the image.
  13. Take the Vintage brad and poke through clay and Doilie.  If you need to take a paper piercer and make a hole before inserting the brad.
  14. Next take crystal effects and place it underneath the Doilie and place on baroque embossed basic black paper.
  15. Next place crystal effects under neath the clay impression to adhere to the tea lace paper Doilie.  If any glue comes from underneath the clay impression cover with dazzling diamonds glitter and tap excess into a paper plate.
  16. Take your small black stamped scallop circle and adhere to card with stampin dimensionals.
  17. Set card aside to dry.

* It isn't recommended to freeze your rubber stamps on a regular basis, they may dry out so it is recommended to let dry over night or use the same stamp sparingly if you choose to use the freezer method.
