Let me tell you how I started on an inspiring creative discovery. It was February 2007 and it was a typical Midwest winter. Snow flurries were flying around the air with a slight breeze that made the crisp air even chillier. That day changed my life. I was in my sister’s basement at a girl’s night out listening to the demonstrator talk about this company Stampin’ Up!. I wasn’t really that interested in the presentation and left the table to help bring snacks to my sisters guests.
Then the magic happened. The demonstrator said we would all do what they call a make and take. We were all going to make our own do it yourself card. I thought OK, this could be fun. So, she passed around the card stock and other supplies and showed us “her sample”. It was a handmade card that we could either duplicate or alter to our liking. What got me was the glitter and how easy it was to create. It was so much fun putting together this handmade card and sprinkling it with glitter.
My stress level was at an all-time low and I knew at that moment that I wanted to continue with this hobby. There is more to this story but I’m sharing this abbreviated version because going on an inspiring creative discovery is great for your health. It gives your brain a break, reduces your stress and unleashes creativity you may not have known you possess, and you meet some really great people in the crafting community.
The best part of partnering up with Stampin’ Up! is when I meet someone who says, “I’m not creative” and then they create a handmade card using the high quality, color coordinating supplies. When they complete the project, you see the biggest smile and joy come over their face! That never gets old for me. You see a new-found confidence in them and that is so satisfying to both of us!
