High School Graduation Party Ideas. Planning a graduation party or any other celebration is a stressful job. One of the biggest obstacles that face many of us (including us) is the time management of party planning.
Join us for this 4 day series as we share our trials and triumphs that we are working on for our sons' High School Graduation this year. We hope to inspire you and show you, GASP! Our mistakes! With some creativity and help from 1st Class Creativity you can have the Graduation Party you have dreamed of.
Planning the High School Graduation Party is something we are up to our eyeballs in planning right now! Can you relate or know someone that might be going through the same thing?
If you are like us time sometime gets away from you and you realize you have less time than you thought to plan an event (such as a Graduation Party).
TIP 1 – THE High School Graduation Invitation
One thing we didn't realize is that the High Schools have a Formal Invitation that they contract out to a company to sell to parents. Although these are very nice and elegant they don't leave much room for creativity or a personal touch. We recommend only purchasing enough of those for close family and avid scrapbookers that want to preserve that memory and come up with your own creative High School Graduation Party Invitation.
Here are some tips when creating, ordering and sending out your Invitation:
- Leave yourself enough time to allow for unforeseen issues, get the High School Graduation Party Invitation out at least 30 days before the party.
- For example, if you wish to do your own High School Graduation Party Invitation then you want to allow ample time to have them printed (without having to incur expedited shipping) or ample time to mass produce (depending on how many people you have coming to your event)
- If doing a digital version of your High School Graduation Party Invitations (which is recommended for over 50 people, unless you can enlist a lot of help), see if your Photographer will work with you through their printing service. If you don't work with a Digital Program like My Digital Studio, or want to spend the time designing an Invitation your Photographer can definitely help you with that.
- Make sure you realize how many invitations you need to order or create.
- We printed out 150 invitations thinking 150 people invited and half would show. Well, we got to thinking and realized that we in fact invited over 300 people! YIKES!!! See when you send an invitation to the Jones family, there is more than one person to be paired up with that invite…..YEP this was a HUGE error on our part….the worst part is that we didn't realize it till the invites were already mailed out!
Here is a High School Graduation Party Invitation that we created for our son. We changed the name and contact information since we are putting on the website for the world to see, but we wanted to show you how easy creating a High School Graduation Party Invitation was to create using My Digital Studio.
This was the front of the Invitation
This is the back of the Invitation. This Invite is 5 x 7 so it's perfect for the recipient of the invitation to put it in a frame. The Invitation was printed out through the Photographer as she could get it shipped out to me within a two day turn around. Can't stress enough how important it is to leave enough time for the printing or creating of the invitations; it will save you a ton of stress!
Next – How long to make the party.
A typical graduation party is anywhere between three and five hours long. Others like to make it an all night affair. This is totally up to you.
Keep in mind graduation parities are often restricted to a very short period of time throughout June, July and possibly the beginning of August. Many people will often end up having multiple events during the same weekend, so it's advised that you allow ample time for people to stop by your event throughout the day.
Splitting up the event and designating time where family comes a certain time and friends come a certain time allows the graduate to visit with each group not being restricted to catching up with just one group. In retrospect I would have liked to do this. Also consider serving food for a certain amount of time to help keep food expenses down. (More on this Day 4).
Come back tomorrow as we discuss Tents, Tables and Chairs and how to pick the right venue for your event!
