DIY Embossed Birthday Cards are a beautiful way to create a card with elegance. Thankfully my router was replaced by my cable company late this evening and I have my internet back, so I'm excited to share this with you today and be back in touch with all of you!
This card was created using an embossing folder, craft metal and a fun fold technique to give this card a little twist so I will share with you a great process to follow when you begin to create your very own DIY Embossed Birthday Card.
Here is a side view of the card (with an added bow). I was conflicted as to which looked better, so please leave your comment with your opinion! 🙂
- The first step in creating a DIY Embossed Birthday Card is knowing the recipient. When creating your card try to imagine who the recipient of the card will be. I had my aunt in mind for this card. Her birthday is in February so I thought using something with a cheery classic color combination would be perfect, and the Pink/Black color combination spoke to me.
- Next it's helpful if you can decide what type of card you want to create. I've been doing a lot of 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 so today I mixed it up with this fancy fold card.
- DIMENSIONS:
- 11 x 4 1/4
- Score at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2 from the left
Using the dimensions above reveals a spot for a sentiment and short note to be included into the inside of the card when the card is opened.
Now decide the embossing you wish to do:
- This card used the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder with Princess Pink Craft Metal and Whisper White Card Stock.
- Next decide what embellishment you wish to have in the right corner. For this card I picked a cupcake, but you could do a snowflake, flower or butterfly.
The "sprinkles" were stamped on the top of the rose red cupcake top as the "frosting" using the Create A Cupcake Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! and finished with the Dazzling Diamond Dust Technique on the cupcake frosting to give it glitter and shine!
