Christmas in July – Gift boxes are one of my favorite items to make for the Christmas Holiday.
The New Decorative Window Gift Box (found on page 36 of the New Holiday Catalog released August 1, 2013) is one that I LOVE! The Decorative Window Gift Box is one of the newest items and is so easy to put together and and decorate. In addition to being easy to assemble it's so versatile I literally could do an entire weeks worth of blog entries using The Decorative Window Gift box.
Here are some ideas on how you could use these boxes:
- Food Treats (make sure you line the inside of box with wax paper if you use it for cookies or candy.
- 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 Mini Cards.
- Any gift that would fit in a 4 x 4 box.
For the Decorative Window Gift box samples below I lined the inside of the box with a 4 x 4 inch sheet of Silver Glimmer Paper. In this first sample I used Red Metal Sheet for the bow with the new Gift Bow Bigz L Die (found on page 37 of the New Holiday Catalog released August 1, 2013) which is super fun and easy to use! Although I was able to put together this box easily the first time, I did find that if I ran the metal through the embossing folder it gave it an extra dimension which I loved. I only had to try the bow twice before it came out that way I wanted it.
If I was going to use metal again I would adhere red liner sheets to card stock under the metal to give it a little more rigidity. If you don't have red liner sheets you could put a thin layer of crystal effects on top of the card stock and place the metal on top. Keep in mind if you use this method you will need to place something on top of the metal so it won't curl up while it's drying. Be sure this is completely dry before running through the big shot, drying time varies, but plan for at least 2 hours.

To mix it up a bit I changed the bows by running a sheet of the Silver Glimmer Paper (Item#124005) through the Gift Bow Bigz L Die. This paper was awesome to use with this die.

The bows were adhered to the boxes with Sticky Strip.
