Big Shot Magnetic Platform Review

When I saw the Big Shot Magnetic Platform (Item#130658) for the Big Shot Die-Cut Machine (Item#113439) in the Stampin’ Up!® 2013-2013 Annual Catalog,  I put it on my list to order as soon as I could.  I was excited to try it out and review if for you on how it works!

Here is my review:  I am very pleased to report that it’s amazing, fantastic, doesn’t disappoint and worth every penny!!

Here is a picture to show the Chalk Talk (#130631, Wood-Mount; #130634, Clear-Mount) stamped image inside the Chalk Talk Framelits™ (#129983)  it’s covered with the Standard Cutting Pad (#113475) it might be hard to see but I think you can see it ok.

Here is the finished product.

The Magnetic Platform held the Framelit in place very well.  The magnet is strong enough to keep the die from moving, but not so strong that you struggle to get it placed where you want it.  You can even hold it upside down! Remember to always use Cutting Pads between the platform and the die.  I didn’t do that and “oops” you can see the result!

You don’t want to scratch the Platform, especially if it’s going to reduce the amount of magnetic surface (which it will over time).  The cutting set-up (or “sandwich”) is, from the bottom:

  1. Big Shot Magnetic Platform
  2. Cutting Pad 1
  3. Die-cut material- 1 layer recommended (I did 3 sheets of thin designer series paper and had no problem, but don't recommend you do that regularly)
  4. thin die (Framelits, Edgelits or Thinlits™)
  5. Cutting Pad

That’s all you need and you’re ready to roll through the Big Shot!

See it in action in this 6 second video to check it out!   To view sound hit megaphone in left corner.  See the short video showing you the layers in for using the Big Shot Magnetic Platform on our YouTube Channel (CLICK HERE)
