Handmade cards are perfect to capture the fall season. You see them changing, the leaves turn beautiful gold, orange, and red colors. It's just goregous. This is the best part of fall in my opinon!
This photo evokes Fall in the midwest. With the still water
reflecting the bright reds, golds, and oranges it's a serene beautiful
photo. The water has a brown tint to it which is common for midwest
lakes and streams.
So how do you draw on your inspiration for creating your projects? Do
you use different inspiration for different projects? Today I'm going
to teach you how I used this photo as inspiration for this handmade card I
created today. I also encourage you to a fall design challenge as well using
this photo see details at the bottom of the post :).
Each of
us has a different train of thought when it comes to creating a handmade
card layout and today I will walk you thought the process I used to
create this handmade card:
- With the photo for inspiration I picked out the brown, red and
yellow (gold) color of metal sheets and ran them through my Autumn
Accents Bigz die (Item#127812) - Then I ran each leaf through an embossing folder. For this card I
used the Houndstooth (Item#123134) and Square Lattice (Item#119976). - Then I thought that bag from the tag a bag gift bags (Item#131370)
on page 158 of the Idea Book and Catalog would make a great pocket
"layer" for this card. - Took Early Espresso Card stock and adhered the the bag (cut to 3 3/4 x 5) to the front.
- Burlap ribbon (Item#132140) was perfect so I attached to bag using
multipurpose glue (Item#110755) and the layered with the Early Espresso
1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon attached with snail adhesive
(Item#104332). - Next Layer the metal leaves, tie together with Linen Thread, then
using hot glue, glue in between and on the back side of the leaves.
Just a little will go a long way. - Then I used the Cherry Cobbler Button from the Designer Buttons
(Regals) (Item#130029) and threaded with linen thread, then attached
with glue dot. - Used Chalk Talk Stamp set and used the Marker to Stamp Technique.
Download MARKER TO STAMP TECHNIQUE - Used coordinating Chalk Talk Framelits (Item#129983) to cut out the stamped image and adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals.
The
top of the bag is open which makes it perfect to add a little gift with
the card. So a 3 x 3 handmade card was created with a 3 x 3 envelope to
coordinate with the card. I went a little crazy thinking outside the
box with the leaf colors, but it still looks cool!
Here is what it looks like with the "gift" inside the handmade card.
