4 Scrapbooking Questions Answered!
- I've heard of acid free but what is lignin free?" Lignin is a product found in tree pulp used to make paper. This substance will cause papers to yellow over time. If paper containing lignin surrounds your photos, they too will begin to yellow. (Stampin' Up! paper is acid and lignin free!)
- "I never know what to say on a scrapbook page – doesn't the picture tell the story?" Organized documentation is important for scrapbooks. You want to eliminate future questions like "Who is that?" or "When did this happen?" Some people keep a scrapbook documentation form that they keep with their photos until that page is made. Or write with a marker on the back of the photo. Just remember to use a pigment ink pen or marker to journal as they will not run or fade over time.
- "I have a lot of photos! How many should I use?" Some experts will tell you "You won't want to scrapbook all of your photos Select a few that will showcase the event or activity you want" Well, here is my philosophy…… I feel that before you print out your photos it's important to delete the ones you won't use, (blurry, closed eye, red eyes that can't be corrected, etc.) Then print out your pictures. How many you print out depends on what you want to do with it. I believe every picture printed should be scrapped in one way or another. - "What size album should I use?" The size of the album is strictly a personal preference. Some people like a smaller 6 x 6 album (these make great gifts!) and most people like the larger 12 x 12 albums. There are also sizes in between! My personal favorites (besides the 12 x 12) are Stampin' Up!s 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 Chipboard Albums, accordion, flip flop and coasters albums as well!
