The Christmas Dove is an iconic symbol at Christmas time. But what is the signifiance of the Christmas Dove? Wanting to know the correct answer I searched google to see what signifiance the dove has at Christmas time. This is what I found:
- The dove symbolizes friendship, forgiveness, benevolence, etc. The dove is a powerful symbol in the occasion of Christmas!
- The dove shows peace on Earth. The dove at Christmas symbolizes peace and freedom.
- The dove is a traditional Christmas tree decoration that is symbolic of peace, purity, love and the Holy Spirit, which is referenced frequently in the Bible. The history of the dove as a Christmas tree ornament is closely linked with the history of the Christmas tree itself.
Wouldn't you agree that when you see a Dove, especially a Christmas Dove you think of peace? That's one reason I think Stampin' Up! named this stamp set with a Christmas Dove, Calm Christmas.
Now for the best way to stamp with the Calm Christmas Dove Stamp Set.
When I saw this set I immediately thought to emboss the image. Much to my surprise and disappointment the embossing of this image actually blends the intricate design together and doesn't really lend itself to being embossed.
Wanting a "fancy" "elegant" look I turned to a Metallic Ink, like the Metallic Encore Pad on page 28 of our Holiday Catalog. What I found was when I used the Silver Metallic Encore Pad it produced a great image showing the intriciate design of the image.
Haven't tried using our classic ink on this set yet, but I would imagine that they would work well.
The card (created with the Calm Christmas Stamp Set) was stepped up by adding some Rhinestones and Pearls but the Calm Christmas card looks great without it too! Of course you will want to add the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper (page 29) of our Holiday Catalog to finish it off.
